Valentines Day Style
What to wear – Winter Wedding
What to wear – Burns Night
I’ve never been a big fan of NYE – but I do of course like any excuse to dress up! I love the star sequin embellishment and fringing on this 1920s style dress, which matches perfectly with these sandals from Jimmy Choo. Not that I could ever wear sandals in December – but if I had better circulation I would definitely wear these!
20% off all Susan Caplan jewellery is available to followers of The Lady’s Maid – using the discount code: THELADYSMAID20.
With the Christmas sales in full swing I thought I’d do some styling featuring some of my favourite things available in the sales. My festive wardrobe has been 50 shades of burgundy this year but I’m earmarking this green velvet frock for Christmas 2020! (Never to early to plan ahead 😉 I’ve styled it here with some emerald statement earrings, matching clutch and divine looking green velvet heels.
I almost choked on my cornflakes when the green version of this shoe by Camilla Elphick popped up on my Instagram feed yesterday. And then I saw they had them in a silver sequin/ gold version – could there be a prettier party flat about town this Christmas?! I don’t think so! I’ve maxed up the glitter ball look here with a spangly silver dress from Whistles. Hair slide: TopShop; bag: TopShop; earrings: Susan Caplan.
If you prefer a more casual look at Christmas then this red jumper dress from Hobbs may be a great option for Christmas Day. Cosy, comfortable and still Christmassy! I’d wear it with black opaques and boots outside and then slip on the festive flats indoors.
I love the pine green of this shirt dress by Kitri Studio. It’s called “Alicia” which makes me like it even more 🙂 The blouson sleeves are really elegant and I like the subtle tonal leopard print of the fabric. I’ve gone full on tonal green goddess here but you could pair it with black or navy.
I love the combination of black & gold during the festive season. This black/gold/grey fair isle jumper paired with a gold lamé pleated skirt and black/gold kitten heels make an ideal cosy but Christmassy look. I call this style: “cocktail/casual” – the sort of outfit that you could wear at home when you want to dress up a bit but still be comfortable. Black beaded headband: Top Shop; shoes: Boden; Earrings: J. Crew; bag: Zara.
Red felt hat available from Lock & Co.
All wardrobes need a classic dress that will take you from desk to dinner and even to the races! Kotys specialise in dresses such as these – pictured is the “Vance” dress in red available in two skirt and sleeve lengths and made of premium wool fabric. All Kotys dresses are made to order in London, reducing waste, and in factories chosen for their sustainable production process. Click here to view their full range.
I bought this burgundy velvet dress of dreams from Saloni to try and it’s not going back! 😍 Look at the cute crystal and pearl bow appliqués ♥️ the puff sleeves ♥️ the deep wine plush fabric ♥️ It’s the burgundy dress I’ve been waiting my whole life for! I think eventually I will rent this dress out so that I recoup some of the cost! But for now it’s living it’s best burgundy life nestled in my wardrobe where it belongs 🙂
A stunning red silk chiffon gown embellished with sequins by Oscar de la Renta. A real showstopper dress for a Christmas ball perhaps! I’ve paired it here with statement earrings from Susan Caplan, sandals by Jimmy Choo and a fun clutch book bag by Olympia le-Tan.
A stylish and cosy coat from Really Wild. I like the cornflower blue/black combination and the detachable collar means you can style it different ways for dressy or casual outfits. I’ve styled it here with an ink blue velvet dress by Brora; hat from The Peruvian Connection, boots from L. K. Bennett, bag by Aspinal, earrings by Auree and gloves by Ted Baker.
I was really drawn to this floral midi dress I found reduced to £30 at TopShop. I love the dark winter rose pattern featuring brown roses on a cranberry red base. Its also got many of my favourite style features in a dress – tie neck detail, blouson sleeves and pleated skirt. Here I’ve styled it two different ways – the first look is dressed down with a winter coat and ankle boots by M&S. This is a good example of how you can mix patterns if the colour palette is the same. (bag by Aspinal ; earrings by Susan Caplan). The second look is dressed up with a black velvet blazer, black heels, red clutch and earrings and beaded black headband.
This is the elegant burgundy lace “Venice” jacket and skirt I tried on at Caroline Charles the other day. Made of french corded lace with scallop edging and velvet trim. I think it would make a great skirt suit for an Autumn/Winter mother of the bride – I’ve styled it here for a wedding with a pillbox hat by Juliette Botterill, clutch from L. K. Bennett, heels by Ted Baker and earrings from E.W. Adams.
This is the pretty floral silk dress I wore a couple of days ago. The “Ophelia” dress by Ethereal London has a flattering drawstring peplum waist detail and triple layered skirt. It’s a really comfortable dress to wear and is dressy without being overly formal – you could dress it up with a headpiece for an autumn/winter wedding or dress it down with boots like I did for a weekend afternoon tea. I think it’s a great day dress for Autumn/Winter and of course it’s ideal for accessorising with my favourite colour 🙂
Ethereal London are offering 20% off this Ophelia dark print range to my followers, using the discount code: LADYSMAID20.
Just when I thought I’d seen all the gorgeous jewel velvet dresses around another one pops up on my radar! I love the square neckline and balloon sleeves of this pink velvet dress from Kitri Studio. It has the cutest jewel buttons too. I’ve paired it here with some matching velvet heels by Silvia Lago, a tinsel bag from Zara and cluster earrings by J. Crew for a festive party outfit.
Dress: Ethereal London 20% off this Ophelia dark print range is available to my followers using the discount code: LADYSMAID20.
This floral midi dress from H&M has my name written all over it – burgundy print, raglan sleeves, smocked waist so you can eat and breathe – all bonus points! The flash of red in the print brightens up the wintery Burgundy too. I’ve paired it here with boots from Reiss, bag by Strathberry, coat from Reiss, gloves from John Lewis and earrings by Auree.
Pussy bow plaid yes please! This tie neck black watch tartan dress is a great desk to dinner frock for December – work it with boots by day then and add some heels for the and sparkle for the eve!
All I want for Christmas is this gorgeous Burgundy velvet dress from Saloni! Look at it all dressed up like a Christmas present with those statement crystal and pearl bows. I’ve styled it here with some cluster earrings from J. Crew, clutch by Jimmy Choo and burgundy velvet Manolo Blahnik heels, available from Vestiare.
Forest green is one of my favourite colours at this time of year. I’ve picked out this forest green double breasted fit and flare coat from L.K. Bennett and paired it with a matching headband from the new AW collection of Juliette Botterill. Adding some pattern with a pretty floral silk dress by Ethereal London. Shoes: L.K. Bennett, bag: Aspinal of London, brooch: Laura Ashley, Earrings: J. Crew.
A head-to-toe beautiful blue ensemble of preloved pieces. Second hand never looked more stylish! Dress: Dior/Vestiare; Headband: Vestiare; bag: Alexander McQueen/Vestiare; earrings: Chanel/Vestiare; Shoes: Elie Saab/The Lady’s Maid Preloved.
An elegant maroon high neck dress from Closet London styled up here for an autumn/winter wedding: Juliette Botterill headband available to hire from The Cotswold Hat Club, Anya Hindmarch clutch, Rupert Sanderson heels and garnet earrings from Winterson.
To mark the 10 year anniversary of their Conscious Exclusive range H&M have released an uber glamorous collection of pieces all made from recycled material, which is great news as you won’t have to be feel guilty about buying this BURGUNDY DRESS OF DREAMS ! H&M Conscious Exclusive AW19 launches today and I can’t see some of these pieces sticking around for long ♥️
A Pretty and practical floral printed dress from M&S – great for a smart/casual autumn look. I’ve styled it with classic black accessories: black ankle boots also from M&S, belt from Mango, bag by Coach and blazer from Zara.
The end of sunny weather isn’t so bad when there are pretty winter hats like this around! This is one of my favourite hats from the AW19 range of Philip Treacy – a luxurious looking wine velvet veiled beret style hat adorned with roses. I’ve styled it here with a tweed dress by Lalage Beaumont, vintage earrings from Jennifer Gibson and pre-owned accessories from Vestiare – Gucci velvet Mary Jane heels and Gucci python clutch.
A favourite piece from the new collection at Lalage Beaumont – the Vicky silk jacket in a beautiful shade of peacock blue with brocade detailing on the front and cuffs. I’ve styled it here with the matching Freya dress for a stylish Autumn wedding look. Specialising in elegant, timeless pieces expertly tailored with the finest materials available Lalage Beaumont is the perfect choice if you’re looking for a special occasion or business wear outfit with a classically polished edge. Lalage also offer a made-to-measure and bespoke service so that you can find an exclusive outfit with the perfect fit. Click here to view the full Autumn/Winter range at Lalage Beaumont*
Liberty print, shirt dress, pink and floral – it doesn’t get much better a combination for me 🙂 I love this blossom print shirt dress from Really Wild Clothing. I’ve paired it here with boots from Gianvito Rossi, bag by Chloe, sunglasses by Chloe and vintage earrings from Fellows Auctioneers for a smart/casual autumnal look.
I’m excited to be collaborating with Katherine Hooker – a British brand specialising in expertly tailored coats and jackets, made in London. They have kindly offered to make me a custom made coat from their current collection and I’m having a hard time picking a favourite! Here are some of the styles I tried on during a visit to their showroom in Chelsea. I’ll be back soon for a fitting once I’ve made my choice, so stay tuned in the coming weeks for more insight into their made to measure process.
A ladylike day look featuring ruby and diamond jewellery from the upcoming jewellery sale at Fellows Auctioneers. A pretty diamond and ruby spray brooch and a pair of ruby and diamond floral cluster earrings. Berkeley dress in fuchsia wool tweed from The Fold. Pomegranate Maggie heels from Rupert Sanderson and postbox leather tote from Anya Hindmarch. The jewellery auction takes place on Thursday at 10am – click here to view the full catalogue.
I love the look of this new midi dress at Marks & Spencer – pretty covered buttons, blouson sleeves and a flattering cinched in waist panel. The perfect shade of green with burgundy floral print for autumn too. I’ve paired it here with burgundy suede boots from Isabel Marant, bag from The Cambridge Satchel Company and earrings from H&M.
I was recently asked by Closet London to pick my favourite pieces from their new Dark Romance collection and this burgundy midi dress was one of them. No prizes for guessing I would pick burgundy, but I like the unusual patterning on this one – with its freckles of pink and turquoise that I’ve highlighted in the accessories. A great way of brightening up the darker autumn/winter days.
I never really wear jeans so I’m always looking for casual day dresses that don’t look too dressy. This is my ideal comfy casual autumn outfit – patterned loose fitting midi dress, boots and jumper. I like this cropped batwing jumper from Pure Collection as its not too long so will balance well with a dress without looking too scruffy. I’ve paired the dress here with some easy to wear ankle boots from Boden, mini satchel bag by Mulberry and earrings from Mango.
I love collaborating with Fellows auction house because it gives me an excuse to pore over their fabulous auction catalogues and style my favourite pieces. Their next auction is Fine Jewellery on September 12 this week, where you can bid on any of these pieces pictured amongst many more. You can view the full catalogue here and find more details on how to bid as well as news on their upcoming jewellery auctions in September. I love emeralds so I’ve styled Lots 356, 358 and 500 here into a glamorous green outfit fit for Lady Grantham!*
(Dress, sandals and bag all available at Net a Porter).
10 September 2019
A pretty green/ivory polka shirt dress from Hobbs. Lightweight shirt dresses like this are perfect for autumn. And they have great versatility. You could remove the tie belt and add an ivory leather one to match the boots for a different look; dress it up for an event with stilettos and a headband or dress it down with a chunky knit over the top or a skinny high neck underneath. Let me count the ways I can wear thee! Ivory boots: Mango; bag: Mango; earrings: Accessorize.
9 September 2019
The sun may still be shining but there’s a definite autumn chill in the air so I think it’s finally time to enclose the toes and pack away the sandals until spring. I bought some ecru ankle boots from M&S last year which were a great neutral for matching with a wide number of dresses and I like the look of their new stone Western style ankle boot pictured here. The dress is a pretty peony pink floral wrap dress with puff sleeves from & Other Stories. Bag by Kate Spade, Mulberry scarf, Anthropologie earrings, Prada sunglasses.
8 September 2019
I love this dusky pink midi dress from Emilia Wickstead, classic clean lines with a dramatic blunt square neckline. I’ve paired it here with a matching plaited headband from Jane Taylor, Bottega Veneta clutch, Rupert Sanderson heels and Annoushka earrings, for a regal autumnal formal daywear look.
7 September 2019
Chic and sleek workwear outfit inspiration from the new A/W range at Lalage Beaumont. I’ve picked out some of my favourite pieces here – and it includes trousers – a rare occurrence on my page! But I like the look of these wide leg Portia trousers, styled here with other new pieces from Lalage: a black and white tweed coat, and Sylphide handbag in black croc. (Earrings: Laurence Coste; heels: L.K. Bennett).
The second look features a classic navy knee length dress with ivory embroidery detailing, paired here with a Manon large croc print leather handbag in navy. (Heels: Prada; earrings: Annoushka).
And finally the winter white Tina dress – a knee-length dress with full-length sleeves and illusion pockets. Paired here with the Odette large taupe croc bag, and a smokey pink pearl necklace. (Shoes: Aquazurra).
Based in Knightsbridge, Lalage Beaumont create finely tailored, classic and elegantly cut dresses, coats and separates made from the finest fabrics available. Lalage offers a made-to-measure and bespoke service to tailor an outfit to your exact requirements. Head to their website here to view the rest of the range.*
6 September 2019
This is the first full year I’ve spent in the UK since 2013. And one of the things I missed when living abroad is the changing of the English seasons – especially autumn. There’s always one day in September when you walk outside, the air is crisp, the leaves are turning golden and you know that autumn has arrived. It’s a perfect season to reflect the colours of nature in your wardrobe – like this hazel floral midi dress in conker bloom from Boden. I’ve matched it here with boots from Mango, bag from Aspinal and earrings from Mango.
5 September 2019
I can’t promise I will be saying no to new clothes in September – it’s my Birthday next week so I will be very tempted to treat myself to something new 🙂 Maybe I will offset my shopping footprint with an old old clothes October instead 😉 I love all the vintage inspired tea dresses at L.K. Bennett at the moment and this Aubergine midi dress with cascading front frills is really pretty too. I’ve paired it here with a Strathberry tote, Gianvito Rossi heels and bee earrings from Sister Sister Collective.
4 September 2019
It may be second hand September but you can still window shop. Also this gorgeous headband from Julian Garner is available to hire from The Cotswold Hat Club so I’m keeping it semi sustainable! I’m well aware I fill your feeds with new stuff daily making it more tempting to buy new but the original aim of The Lady’s Maid was to show how to style your outfits not to shop everything I picture. So you may want to buy this gorgeous red dress from Hobbs (I certainly do) or you may have a red dress in your wardrobe and this post has given you inspiration on how to wear it to an Autumn/Winter wedding. The only thing you’d have to worry about would be upstaging the bride! Dress: Hobbs; headband: Julian Garner / Cotswold Hat Club; bag: Chloe; shoes: Gianvito Rossi; earrings: Annoushka.
3 September 2019
If you’re taking part in second hand September then here’s some inspiration for you. Shopping second hand doesn’t mean settling for second best – there are thousands of quality pre-owned garments out there with lots of life left in them – you just need a bit more time to hunt them out! This glamorous green look is head-to-toe second hand with pre-owned designer pieces I found on Vestiare: Prada headband, Alessandra Rich dress, Dolce & Gabbana shoes, Anya Hindmarch clutch and Miu Miu earrings.
2 September 2019
I always prefer patterned dresses to block colours as a) they tend to be more figure flattering and b) if multi-toned they introduce more options for accessorising. I love this Aster dress in cream, new at Reiss with its autumnal floral design, ruffle detail and tiered skirt. You could wear this with caramel neutrals but I’ve picked out the pinky/burgundy tones here with a jacket from Mango, boots by Gianvito Rossi, bag from J. Crew and earrings also from J. Crew. You could also change the look with a chunky knit instead of a jacket or layer with a roll neck underneath come winter. For an autumn wedding add a burgundy heel and headband. Lots of options, just what I like from a frock

I’ve teamed up with London silversmith Hersey & Son in a competiton to win a £50 voucher to spend at Hersey and a signed copy of my book Wardrobe Wisdom. Pictured is a silver engraved bookmark Hersey kindly gifted to me (one side has the title of my book and the other side is the publication date – such a nice way of permanently commemorating my book baby!) Hersey have a large range of silverware that make perfect gifts, most pieces can be engraved which I think always adds a special touch. A 15% discount is available on all pieces using my discount: LADYSMAID15 (valid until 14th September).
Hersey & Son is one of the few remaining traditional silversmiths in the UK – a Father & Son business – they have been making jewellery since 1955.
Head to my Instagram page @theladysmaid to enter the competition. The competition closes next Sunday at 9am and the winner of a £50 Hersey voucher plus a signed copy of Wardrobe Wisdom will be notified soon after.
21 August 2019
I’ve been wanting to pay The Berkeley a visit for months to try their Dior themed Prêt-à-Portea afternoon tea and it’s a real treat if you love tea and cakes and fashion! Each cake is inspired by a different Dior design to coincide with the Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition at the V&A Museum. My favourite was this little red velvet cake in the shape of a Dior handbag. Tea dresses are timeless and ideal for an afternoon event – I’m wearing the Montana Poppy Silk Dress by L.K. Bennet, now sold out, but I’ve spotted a few on eBay in various colours and sizes. (Click dress images to view).
10 August 2019
I think it’s safe to say I’ve packed more suitcases in my little life than the average person, so packing for my own short holiday is a sea breeze 🙂 this is a sneak peak inside my summer suitcase for a trip to Spain next week. Pieces that are still in stock I have linked below:
7 August 2019
The Lady’s Maid is never off duty #styleneversleeps 😉 but I couldn’t resist featuring this clutch bag by Rebecca Minkoff (much more fun than an out of office email ;). I’ve paired it here with a cotton embroidered kaftan from & Other Stories, earrings from Ashiana London and my airport buy sandals from Kurt Geiger.
6 August 2019
I often get messages from ladies looking for occasion dresses to suit curvy figures. If you haven’t heard of Bombshell London then you need them in your life! This pretty blue and pink floral maxi dress has a v wrap ruched neckline to flatter the bust and a vertical pleat to skim over the hips. Did I mention it was machine washable?! I’ve accessorised it here with sandals by Jimmy Choo, clutch by J.Crew and earrings from Mango.
5 August 2019
Is it even summer if you’re not wearing shells about yourself?! This cute shell embellished bamboo bag is currently in the sale at Mango– a great little bag for summer holidays. And no summer wardrobe would be complete without a little white dress like this one from Warehouse. It has a pretty broderie hem and detachable sleeves for when you want to soak your shoulders in sunshine. Shell earrings also from Mango, hair tie by Lelet NY, sandals from Carrie Forbes and sunglasses by H&M.
4 August 2019
I bought a denim blue bardot style dress from the Conscious range at H&M last year and it’s one of my favourites for summer – the lyocell fabric is really soft and thin so great for warmer weather (unlike stiffer denim). So I like the look of this wrap style dress from their current Conscious range – with it’s pretty flounced hem and blouson sleeves – a great daily dress wardrobe staple. I’m paired it here with some neutral accessories – tortoiseshell sunglasses from H&M, bamboo bag from Mango, shell pendant earrings from Mango and burnt orange leather sandals, also from Mango.
3 August 2019
A pretty summer tiered maxi dress from Warehouse. I love the dainty daisy print and ruffled hem on this. I’d probably wear it casually (never knowingly underdressed) but I’ve dressed it up here for a summer wedding or day at the races. Hat by Camilla Rose, sunglasses by M&S, earrings by & Other Stories, bag by J. Crew and sandals by Top Shop.
2 August 2019
There may be more than one or two ladies dressed in this colour combination at Goodwood today! Ladies dressed in blue and white, colours of sponsors L’Ormarins, can enter the best dressed competition to win a holiday to South Africa. Dress by Love Shack Fancy, Hat by Vivien Sheriff, Laurence Coste earrings, Gianvito Rossi shoes, bag by Vanina.
1 August 2019
There aren’t many designers where I like everything they make but Zimmerman is one of them – always the prettiest prints and the daintiest details – I love the tiny buttons, and blouson sleeves of this Veneto border dress in red paisley. They call it red but I’m seeing pink, so I’ve matched it with some blush accessories – straw clutch from J. Crew, earrings from J. Crew, sandals by Ancient Greek Sandals and sunglasses by Chloe.
31 July 2019
This new monochrome midi from M&S is 100% cotton so great for the city summer heat and I love the pretty paisley print. I’ve accessorised it here with peep toe espadrilles from Russell & Bromley, a Strathberry Tote, earrings from H&M and sunglasses also by H&M.
30 July 2019
This is one outfit from a holiday wardrobe I have styled for a lady from Bahrain who is travelling to the highlands of Scotland this summer. A touch of tartan is always welcome so I’ve paired these snazzy tartan troos from Vivienne Westwood with a pretty floral top by MSGM and added a peplum cardigan by Alexander McQueen, green suede flats from Rupert Sanderson, a box bag by Mark Cross and earrings by Sylvia Toledano.
29 July 2019
I was perusing the dregs of the summer sales at the weekend and came across this green gingham frock from the Shrimps x Warehouse collaboration, now £20. I love the bardot neckline and tiered skirt. I’ve accessorised it here with sandals from Kurt Geiger, bag from Zara, earrings by Kenneth Jay Lane and sunglasses by Chloe.
28 July 2019
Andrew Gn frocks always stop me in my tracks – I love the billowing lace panelled sleeves and cute keyhole cut-out of this midi from their AW 19 collection. I’ve paired it here with a hat by Rachel Trevor Morgan, amethyst Lottie bag from Aspinal, amethyst earrings from Annoushka and heels by Gianvito Rossi.
27 July 2019
Goodwood style inspiration with this elegant lace dress by Temperley London, hat by Juliette Botterill, available to hire from The Cotswold hat club; shoes by Gianvito Rossi, Aspinal of London handbag and Laurence Coste earrings. Ladies are encouraged to dress in blue and white when attending the Qatar Goodwood Festival next Friday 2 August – the signature colours of sponsors L’Ormarins. It’s well worth making the effort as the prize for best dressed is a holiday to South Africa!
22 July 2019
This dreamy dress from Beulah would be top of my holiday wishlist if I was jetting off to an exotic island for a vacation this summer. I love the pink tile print and the ruffled off shoulder sleeves and hem. I’ve accessorised it here with sunglasses by H&M, bag by Loeffler Randall, earrings by Simone Rocha and sandals by Valentino.
21 July 2019
I bought these tan studded leather sandals from the airport yesterday (it’s always hard to resist shopping temptations when you have time to kill at airports! 😬) but I reckon these will be a summer staple – neutral tan base with multicolour gems which means they will match with any frock and great for day-to-eve!
20 July 2019
I’m finally donning The Polka Dress today en route to Miami – I had to give it the longest day of wear for it’s maiden voyage! I accessorised my travel outfit with a red le pliage tote from Longchamp – my favourite bags for travel as they’re lightweight and fit a lot in. The red loupe sandals from Dune aren’t available any more so I’ve linked here to a pair I spotted on eBay. My nail varnish is “sizzling hot” from Essie – a vibrant hibiscus coral shade of red.
19 July 2019
With Glyndebourne Festival well under way several followers are looking for black tie inspiration for a night at the opera. I’ve picked out this Gardenia Organza dress – currently in the Goat Fashion sale. It has a floral print covered with a gold lamé check to add a bit of glamour. Love the cute shoulder bows too. I’ve paired it here with gold sandals from Jimmy Choo, beaded bag and earrings by Rosantica.
18 July 2019
This elegant floral silk “Ophelia” dress was kindly gifted to me by Ethereal London. I love the delicate painterly floral pattern and the soft peplum detail to the waist – a perfectly pretty summer dress for day-to-eve events. I’ve paired it here with a beaded bag from Zara, pink sandals from Boden and shell earrings by Kenneth Jay Lane (sold out so I’ve linked to a similar style).
16 July 2019
Wearing my Top Shop daisy print midi dress for dinner at Cliveden – what an amazing view from the terrace!
15 July 2019
A chic monochrome look featuring all pre-owned pieces. This classic black and white tweed mini dress by Fendi is up for sale in my designer eBay auction which ends today. Tags still attached and never worn so in excellent condition. I’ve styled it here with 3 accessories from the Designer Collection auction at Fellows which takes place today at 11 am today – Chanel sunglasses, Fendi handbag and Chanel shoes. Chanel earrings available at Vestiare.
14 July 2019
A final day of Wimbledon style with this grass green dress by Cefinn. I’ve accessorised it here with a box bag by Montunas, earrings by Sylvia Toledano, heels by Malone Souliers and sunglasses by Saint Laurent.
13 July 2019
I’m bringing out a favourite red and white polka dot dress from Oasis today and treating Dorothy to a strawberry treat as it’s the ladies Wimbledon finals day! This dress is from last year but I’ve seen one here on eBay if you want to add some strawberries and cream style to your wardrobe this weekend. 🍓
This Holli dress from L.K. Bennett is one of the dresses up for sale in my eBay auction which ends tomorrow. A delicate navy silk dress with a pretty citrine blossom pattern and floaty sleeves. Perfect for summer garden parties or weddings. The dress retailed at £350 but the current bid on my eBay page is £51.01 so someone could bag a bargain! I’ve styled it here with navy sandals from Boden, a Kate Spade bag, earrings from H&M and sunglasses from Le Specs. Head to my eBay page here to see the other silk dresses from Hobbs and L.K. Bennett up for sale and place your bids before the auction ends tomorrow.
12 July 2019
As part of my collaboration with Fellows Auction House I have selected an edit of my favourite pieces from their upcoming Designer Collection sale next Monday. Top of the list for me is this blush pink Prada handbag – lot number 340. Acquiring a second hand designer handbag is a great way of adding a premium finishing touch to your outfit without breaking the bank as well as doing your bit for sustainability!
Here are some more highlights from the auction catalogue, click here to view the full catalogue. The sale takes place on Monday 15 July at 11am.
If you leave your front door today chances are you’ll spot one of these dotty dresses. The Zara dress of summer ’19 is evvvverywhere and it’s back in stock! As you know I’m dottie for the dots so the polka willpower will have to stay strong to resist adding this bad boy to my wardrobe. The Polka Dress has even earned it’s own Insta account – @Hot4TheSpot featuring sightings of The Dress. I’ve studied the sightings and my favourite looks are when people wear it with red lipstick so I’ve added some flashes of red here in the slider sandals from Dune * and H&M earrings. Bag by Gucci, sunglasses by H&M.
(*enter Alicia Healey at checkout to receive £10 off your first order at Dune).
11 July 2019
Green and white is such a fresh and summery colour combination – this shirt dress from L.K. Bennett is a great versatile day dress for summer events. You could dress it up with white heels like these ones from Jimmy Choo or dress it down with white espadrilles or sneakers a la Lady Helen Taylor at Wimbledon yesterday. I’ve paired it here with some pretty pink and green earrings from Laurence Coste and a bag by Gucci. This cream leather bag with rhinestone embellished green plexiglass handle is part of the upcoming Designer Collection auction at Fellows next Monday.
10 July 2019
A new summer edition to the range of MiaGiacca – the elegant Kelly dress. The Kelly has a romantic ruffled skirt, and drawstring waist – features that make it a dress that you can actually breathe and eat in as well as look pretty in which gives it bonus points from me! To mark it’s launch MiaGiacca are offering followers of The Lady’s Maid 10% off the Kelly via this link.
9 July 2019
I’m finding it hard not to style looks in Wimbledon colours this week – my page seems to be full of luscious lawn green, tasty strawberries and cream and tennis ball yellow! All fresh and summery colours that are linked to the great English sporting summer event. Today’s Wimbledon look features a yellow Bardot style dress from Oasis paired with a hat from H&M, tortoiseshell sunglasses from H&M, tan sandals from Mango, bag by Mark Cross and yellow beaded earrings from H&M.
8 July 2019
Some more additions to my eBay page – I’m selling these 6 dress on behalf of a lady who is having a wardrobe clearout. Head to my eBay page here for more details.
I love the red chinoiserie print of this pretty cotton wrap dress by Anna Mason. I’ve paired it here with red sandals by Jimmy Choo, beaded bag and earrings by Rosantica and Saint Laurent sunglasses – a Wimbledon worthy outfit!
7 July 2019
These six Hobbs and L.K. Bennett dresses are now up on my eBay page in a 7 day auction. All are in excellent condition, purchased within the last couple of years and perfect for summer season events!
I found myself in Top Shop the other day and this green and white dress really caught my eye – I love the ruffle detail across the stomach and the slightly ruched shoulders. I’ve paired it here with white sandals from Mango, sunglasses by Dior, green onyx earrings from John Lewis and a pop of tennis ball yellow in the Zara round messenger bag for a Wimbledon ready look!
6 July 2019
M&S is my current favourite place for affordable summer day dresses – I love this cotton one in a flattering shade of Sienna red, now £29 in their sale. You can wear it on the shoulder for a cute puff sleeve – or go off shoulder which quite frankly makes me want to get on the next flight to Barcelona and order some sangria – who’s with me?! ✈️ 🇪🇸 💃🍹
An easy breezy classic cotton summer dress from the Whistles sale. I’m doubly drawn to this dress because it’s called Alicia! I’ve paired it here with some tan flat sandals by Dune – I bought these sandals 2 years ago and they’re my favourite every day sandals for summer. Shell embellished bag by Loeffler Randall, earrings by Kenneth Jay Lane and sunglasses by Prada.

I love this ruffled floral print dress from Red Valentino – Who wouldn’t want to wear this on the banks of the River Thames at the Henley Regatta this week or making a style statement on centre court whilst watching the tennis! Hat by Eugenia Kim, earrings by Annoushka, bag by Prada, sandals by Alexandre Birman.

Such a pretty ivory silk dress dotted with a strawberry fields print, now half price at Chinti & Parker. Perfect for gracing centre court at Wimbledon this week. I’ve paired it here with red espadrilles from Castaner, a Gucci bag (these bags are serving me well for my Wimbledon themed looks!) Lola Rose earrings, Fendi sunglasses and a hat by Sensi Studio.

I couldn’t resist a strawberries and cream themed look for the first day of Wimbledon. white broderie dress by Jaeger, hat: Helen Kaminski, espadrilles: Mint Velvet; bag: Loeffler Randall, earrings: Accessorise, sunglasses: Gucci.
30 June 2019
Sunny Sunday style with this pretty floral summer dress from Boden. I love this style of dress for summer – you can wear it Bardot style or pull up for a mini sleeve which gives it bonus points for versatility. I’ve paired it here with white sandals from Mint Velvet, pom pom straw bag from John Lewis, earrings by Auren Jewellery and sunglasses by Dolce & Gabbana.
29 June 2019
I love this shade of golden yellow – a bit more wearable for many than brighter canary yellows. I featured this yellow dress from Monsoon in my yellow dress edit a few weeks ago and it’s now half-price if anyone is still hunting for a mellow yellow dress in their life. People often find yellow hard to accessorize (and it depends on the shade). If in doubt I’d always go neutral to balance the brightness. This one works well with white/gold for a summer eve party look. Shoes by Aquazurra, clutch by Zara, earrings by Alighieri.
28 June 2019
Summer events sorted with this pretty floral wrap dress from Warehouse. I’ve paired it here with espadrilles from Castaner, a mini basket bag by Heimat Atlantica, earrings from Monica Vinader and sunglasses by Prada.
27 June 2019
As the weather is more reliably heating up it’s time to hunt out some summery frocks. This cute floral dress is my top pick from M&S. I bought it several weeks ago in anticipation of warmer weather and I should have featured it earlier as there is limited sizing left now (10 and 14 are available). Sizing at M&S is always a bit weird so these could cover several sizes, particularly as it has a drawstring waist. It’s made of pure cotton so will be soft and breathable on hot days. I particularly like the square neckline (front and back) and the cute puff sleeves. I’ve paired it here with tan sandals from Boden, a tote bag from Zara, sunglasses by Burberry and earrings from Accessorize.
26 June 2019
My favourite sporting event of the year has always been Wimbledon which gets underway next week. As with many sporting events in the season it’s steeped in history and tradition, the most obvious being the all white wear for players on court, one sartorial rule that makes Wimbledon stand out amongst the other Grand Slams. Here’s a tennis inspired look fit for centre court – polka dot dress: Hobbs; espadrilles: Castaner; straw fedora: Maison Michel; braided leather cross body bag: Nico Giani; earrings: Auree Jewellery; sunglasses: Gucci.
25 June 2019
If you’ve been following my page for a while you’ll know there are two colours I’m quite obsessed with – blush pink and burgundy so when I saw this dress – the Rosemoor from The Fold – it was quite high up on my wish list. I love the delicate linear English rose pattern and the blouson sleeves – the silk fabric is so delicate that I kept it flat in a draw for the last couple of months prior to Royal Ascot as I was scared Dorothy would get her paws on it! I accessorized the dress with a hat custom made by Juliette Botterill to match the dress – with a blush pink base and pink/burgundy petals and a touch of Burgundy veiling, now available to hire from The Cotswold Hat Club, blush pink Swarovski crystal drop earrings, a bespoke burgundy Charlie clutch with leaf brooch by Wilbur & Gussie and wine suede heels from Ted Baker.

DVF clutch: borrowed from a friend.
19 June 2019
This striking dress from Roksanda really caught my eye. With a full silk skirt and sleeves it somehow even has sharp shoulders which I love and the cutout feature adds an extra bid of interest to an otherwise modest midi. The contrasting navy neck scarf make it easy to accessorize with navy – veiled hat by William chambers, available to hire from The Cotswold Hat Club, blue crystal Swarovski drop earrings, Wilbur and Gussie clutch and Ted Baker heels.
15 June 2019
I’ve had my eye on this elegant pencil dress from Goat for a while so it was on my radar for Royal Ascot, but alas I was to slow to snap it up in their recent summer sale! It’s the most beautiful vibrant shade of geranium red. And don’t get me started on those buttons and sleeves. I’ve accessorised it here with a hat by Philip Treacy, bag from Zara, heels by Christian Louboutin and pearl earrings from Auree.
13 June 2019
Is anyone else googling several different weather forecasts until you find one where it isn’t raining at Ascot next week?! Fingers crossed these grey skies will have moved on by Tuesday. The one good thing about planning an outfit last minute is that at least it is easier to dress appropriately for the weather – which is always topsy turvy in England, even in summer, so never a safe bet! Another good thing for last minute ladies is the summer sales which started this week at lots of shops (see how I’m trying to find some silver linings to these clouds?!) This polka dot dress by Marc Jacobs is currently reduced by 40% and pairs well with this veiled spot teardrop hat from William Chambers. Hat box bag by Aspinal, heels by Halston Heritage, earrings by Simone Rocha.

If you’re still looking for a frock for Royal Ascot, how about this chic blush brocade dress trimmed with satin by Amanda Wakeley, currently half price at Outnet. I’ve accessorised it here with a hat by Jane Taylor, Tory Burch clutch, Gianvito Rossi heels and Annouskha pearl earrings.
8 June 2019
Black and white is a classic look for Royal Ascot. You can’t wear a dress like this at a wedding so the races is the place to make a monochrome statement! I love the pretty waist brooch embellishments on this dress from Goat. I’ve accessorised it with a hat by Sally Ann Provan, heels by Stuart Weitzman, clutch from Kayu and Laurence Coste earrings.
7 June 2019
If in doubt put a bow in it! I love the simple but striking bow adornment on this fuchsia dress from Gina Bacconi and hat by Bee Smith. Accessorised here with a cream clutch by Jigsaw, shoes from John Lewis and earrings from Susan Caplan.
5 June 2019
I love the fresh jade shade of green of these pieces by LaLage Beaumont – jade, gold and ivory tweed coat, the matching tweed dress and silk dress. I’ve paired them here with a topaz leather handbag and matching jade saucer hat, also from Lalage. An elegant, timeless look for mothers of the bride or Royal Ascot.
4 June 2019
Two weeks to go until Ascot opening day and I am sensing some panic amongst the last minute ladies who are yet to decide on their outfit(s) ! So me and my chief Cotswold collaborator, Rachel at The Cotswold Hat Club, are teaming up to flash style your dresses – send me or a photo of your dress and we’ll match you up with some CHC hat hire options. I’ll be at Cotswold Hat Club HQ tomorrow afternoon and will shares pics of Rachel modelling some pieces from her extensive hat hire collection to further inspire you (hope that’s ok Rachel!). Here I’ve styled an Emily London wide brim monochrome hat, available to hire from The Cotswold Hat Club, with the new Dalmatian dot jumpsuit from Suzannah London, diamond and black gemstone earrings from Fellows auction house, Aspinal hat box bag and Gianvito Rossi shoes. So get sending your pics ladies – I’ll feature a selection of them in Insta stories tomorrow.

I’m always looking for new accessory ideas so I was pleased to be asked by Fellows, an Auction House established in 1876, to select some of my favourite pieces from their upcoming jewellery auction on 6 June this week and present them here. I’ve styled two pieces from the auction catalogue: tourmaline and diamond earrings and a turquoise and split pearl brooch, into a top-to-toe turquoise look to inspire ladies looking to make a colourful statement at Ascot or as Mother of the Bride this year. Click here to view the rest of the auction catalogue and find your own gem to add a unique touch of sparkle to your racing outfit. Fellows hold a jewellery auction once a month so it’s a great place to look for accessories. The Auction will be held in Birmingham but you can also bid online. I look at a lot of dresses every day and love it when one jumps out amongst the rest – this pretty duck egg blue/pink midi by Emilia Wickstead is one of them. Part of the Emilia Wickstead x Woolmark collection, it’s made of 100% Australian merino wool – an unusual choice for summer but it is a lightweight natural fibre that can easily be tran-seasonal. I love the flashes of pink in the skirt panels. I’ve paired it here with a beautiful statement two-tone disc hat by Jane Taylor. If the dress had sleeves I could totally see The Countess of Wessex working this look at Royal Ascot this year! Shoes by Jimmy Choo, Emmy London clutch and Kiki McDonough earrings.
2 June 2019
Everyone seems to be wearing yellow to weddings and Royal Ascot this summer and it’s not always the easiest colour to accessorize. My favourite options for contrasting colours are pink and blue. I love this pretty pale yellow lace dress from Needle and Thread, that I’ve accessorised with dusky pink: Philip Treacy hat, mulberry clutch, ted baker earrings, Stuart Weitzman heels; while the richer mustard L.K. Bennett dress (very Amal Clooney) could be accessorized with navy blue: hat: Cara Meehan at The Cotswold Hat Club, clutch: L.K. Bennett, heels: L.K. Bennett, earrings: Auren.
1 June 2019
I think it’s safe to say I have a penchant for polka dot frocks! I like the midi length and ruffle hem of this one in cinnamon and soft white – a perfect frock for a sunny Saturday. I’ve paired it with these flat ecru sandals from Zara. Here are some more pretty woman polka dresses:
1 June 2019
It’s Derby Day today – the highlight of the flat racing calendar, and a popular fixture in the British summer season of sporting events. I always think spring is over and summer is here in England on Derby Day (If summer is ever truly here in England!). I was pleased to see a follower take inspiration from The Lady’s Maid in her outfit at ladies day yesterday – wearing a dress from Jolie Moi she saw on my page a few weeks ago. I’ve pictured another one here that I like – the diamond print midi. Jolie Moi have some really striking prints and I love the vintage feel of the high neck and angel sleeves. I’ve accessorized it here with a pink hat from The Cotswold Hat Club, geometric moonstone earrings by Auren, cobalt blue clutch by Mulberry and pink L.K. Bennett heels.
31 May 2019
Ascot outfit fever is heating up and I’m getting the feeling there are a lot of last minute ladies out there. If so then your new best friends this month will be The Lady’s Maid and Next Day Delivery! And Outnet where I found this striking blush/black dress by Amanda Wakeley – a simple classic and chic dress with a touch of asymmetric embellishment – a perfect base for a William Chambers bonnet – they have an array of pink/black hats whether you’re a percher, a wide brim or a side sweep kind of girl 🙂 Earrings by Oscar de la Renta, heels by Rene Caovilla, bag by Tara Zadeh.
30 May 2019
Has there ever been a dress more replicated on repeat than Julia Robert’s polka dot frock in Pretty Woman?! My favourite re-incarnation at the moment is this wrap dress in cinnamon and soft ivory from Baukjen. I’ve accessorized it here with a hat by Sensi Studio, shoes by Alessandra Rich, bag from Aspinal, Cartier sunglasses and Annoushka earrings. Another budget pretty woman polka dot dress is this one from Mango.
29 May 2019
When the calendar says spring but the sky says winter my wardrobe answers with a burgundy polka dot frock! This is fast becoming my favourite shirt dress from Baukjen – the perfect frock for a cloudy spring day ♥️ A similar style is available in cinnamon and soft white. Very Pretty Woman! I’m wearing the dress with my M&S contrast toe slingbacks – the much sought after Chanel dupes which are now back in stock!
29 May 2019
If you’re looking for a classy and classic look for Royal Ascot then check out the elegant collection at Lalage Beaumont. Their beautifully tailored dresses and jackets are designed and made in London using premium fabrics with distinctive detailing – I love the frog fastening on this “Diana” silk jacket, paired here with the matching dress. Based in Knightsbridge Lalage previously designed for Burberry and Mulberry before setting up her own label in 2005. Made-to-measure and bespoke services are also available if you’re after something completely unique. You don’t have to wear the latest trends to stand out from the crowd – sometimes the sleekest and chicest look is far more noticeable! Lalage works with milliners to create hats to perfectly complement her clothes which lessens the hassle of you having to colour match a hat. Pictured is their teardrop disc hat in scarlet and latte. They also have a range of elegant leather leather handbags – this is the “Manon Mignon” in stone – so I think the only thing they can’t fix you up with is shoes! These nude patent courts are from Gianvito Rossi; fire opal earrings by Kiki McDonough.

It’s impossible to get bored styling Ascot outfits on this page when the options are ENDLESS! If you want to get noticed in the style stakes then this stunner of a statement hat by Bundle MacLaren, available to hire from The Cotswold Hat Club will do the trick! I’ve styled it here with a green jumpsuit by SemSem, heels by Gianvito Rossi, clutch from Hobbs and earrings by Annoushka. Jumpsuits have been permitted in The Royal Enclosure at Ascot for a couple of years – The Countess of Wessex was the first royal to wear one last year which was quite a royal fashion moment!

Sunny yellow dresses to brighten a rainy day 🌞:
26 May 2019
I’m stepping up the hatspiration in the run up to Royal Ascot! I love this dramatic sweeping monochrome hat from Jess Collett Milliner. I’ve matched it here with a polka dot dress from Andrew GN, earrings by Kenneth Jay Lane, clutch from Sophia Webster and Gianvito Rossi heels for a classic and fun My Fair Lady Ascot look.
25 May 2019
If you’re looking for a classic, elegant dress for Royal Ascot or the wedding season that will be more than a one wear wonder, this Lena light blue dress from Kotys is well worth a look. I’ve dressed it up here with a hydrangea disc hat from Jane Taylor, an antique amethyst and pearl floral brooch, lavender suede heels and a lilac clutch. The Lena dress is available in two skirt and sleeve lengths, and it has pockets which is always a bonus in a frock! Kotys are offering my followers 20% off their dresses – discount code TLM20 – so if you’re planning your Ascot outfit this weekend head over to their website for more inspiration!

Hersey & Son, one of the few remaining traditional silversmiths in the UK, asked me to pick my favourite pieces from their collection so of course I had to get Dorothy involved! Dorothy is wearing Hersey’s sterling silver dog bone keyring engraved with her name and I’m wearing the lucky penny pendant. The pendant contains a genuine penny, steam cleaned and half encased in silver. You can personalise it with a name or message engraved on the back and choose a penny with a special date (between 1971 to 2015) or take a lucky dip! I’m hoping mine will bring me good luck! Hersey & Son are offering my followers 10% off their range using the discount code: ladysmaid10. Click here for some of their top tips on caring for silverware.
How pretty is this pink floral dress from Michael Kors. The soft hibiscus print and billowing sleeves is sharpened up a bit with a contrasting white belt. I’ve accessorised it here with a pearl headband, white leather bag, white suede heels and pink drop earrings for a ladylike look fit for wafting around the flowerbeds at the Chelsea Flower Show!
23 May 2019
These snaffle suede loafers from Dune London are my favourite flats for spring/summer. A perfect pinky beige that will match with most outfits. Smart enough for walking to work, and casual enough to walk the dog!
21 May 2019
A pretty yellow and pink echinacea print silk dress from Hobbs. Accessorized here with a hat by Camilla Rose, available to hire from The Cotswold Hat Club, heels by Stuart Weitzman, bag by L.K. Bennett and earrings by Monica Vinader, for a bright and breezy Royal Ascot look.
20 May 2019
Chelsea Flower Show week is the perfect time to bring some blooms into your wardrobe. I love the peony print on this pretty 1930s style blush midi tea dress from Suzannah. Accessorised here with heels by Stuart Weitzman, Aspinal of London bag, Laurence Coste earrings and Garrett sunglasses.
15 May 2019
Classic with just a smidgen of cool is the kind of style I strive to obtain! So I like this blue and yellow check boucle tweed dress – a new style at MiaGiacca. The Margaret dress has distinctive leg-of-mutton sleeves, a fringed waistband and cuffs, and gem buttons. It’s made of a lightweight wool/cotton mix so suitable for spring events with the added bonus that it doesn’t crease when you sit down! This week MiaGiacca are offering my followers 15% off their current range (plus free shipping). Other fabric options are also available through their bespoke service. Click here to gain access to the special discount code.

Royal Ascot gets underway five weeks today so time is running out to plan your race ready outfit! Here’s some monochrome chic classic Ascot style inspiration courtesy of this Suzannah London capelet dress and black/white hat by Emily London. This dress is great as you can remove the capelet and wear the shift dress alone for a different look. Add the cape and you have much more modern alternative to a classic jacket if you want to cover your arms. Earrings by Laurence Coste, bag by Miu Miu, shoes by Jimmy Choo.
12 May 2019
I love this buttercup yellow dress from Mango. An easy to wear casual shirt style with cute cap sleeves, perfect for spring/summer weekends. I’ve matched it here with sling-backs from Mango, clutch by Tory Burch, earrings from Accessorize and sunglasses by Tom Ford.
30 April 2019
This is on of my favourite frocks from my designer clothing charity re-sale. A multi-coloured striped silk shift dress with elegant boat-neckline from the SS 14 collection of Christian Dior. I’ve matched it here with a pale pearl pink hat by William Chambers, available to hire from The Cotswold Hat Club, a pink Prada clutch (pre-owned – available from Vestiare), vintage crystal cluster earrings from Jennifer Gibson and heels from L. K. Bennett.
29 April 2019
The unpredictability of an English Spring can cause havoc in the wardrobe – with outerwear being the trickiest of garments to get right. If you’re looking for a spring trench to keep you covered for April showers I really recommend this one from H&M – in the prettiest shade of vintage pink. I love the loose, unstructured fit and the length is perfect for wearing with midi skirts and dresses. I’ve paired it here with a dress from Baukjen, ankle boots from Boden, bag by Aspinal of London, earrings from Accessorize and sunglasses from Accessorize.
27 April 2019
I’m teaming up with Kotyswear today who are offering my followers 20% off their classic dresses. Specialising in dresses with sleeves in timeless designs that can take you from work to weekend weddings with the right accessories! Pictured here is the Perry pink dress which can be customised to suit your hem and sleeve preference. Discount code: TLM20. I’ve matched the Perry dress here with a hat by Whiteley, shoes by Rupert Sanderson, bag by D&G and earrings by Kiki McDonough.
24 April 2019
I’ve been looking for a coral frock for ages to match with this stunning hat from Awon Golding and this one from Roksanda is the best I’ve found. It looks modest from the front but turn around and there’s a big cut-out feature and oversized asymmetric bow. I’m not entirely sure if this would get past the eagle-eyed Royal Enclosure officials at Royal Ascot (I don’t see a written rule against backless dresses anymore) but tbh if you’re wearing this hat no one will be looking at your back! Earrings by Annette Ferdinandsen, clutch by Kayu, heels from Peter Kaiser.

I’ve only recently discovered Baukjen and I really like their range – lots of pretty dresses and good versatile wardrobe staples too like this rose cotton jumper. I’ve pictured my favourite dress from their current range – the Adele button dress with a pretty blush petal print. I think I spy some ruching in the sleeves which makes me go weak at the knees! A perfect spring frock for the Easter weekend. (FYI For my US followers – they offer free shipping to USA if you spend over $99). I’ve accessorised the dress here with a white heeled leather shoe, blush sunglasses, blush crystal drop earrings and a mini basket bag.
17 April 2019
Another pretty dress from the Palace Collection at Hobbs – the Victoria Posey dress – inspired by Queen Victoria’s love of nature. I’ve paired it here with a blush headpiece by Snoxells, rose suede heels from Boden, Swarovski rose crystal earrings and a clutch from Accessorize. A perfect outfit for an Easter Weekend Wedding.
15 April 2019
I love the look of this buttery soft leather jacket from Baukjen – it’s available in lots of colours but of course the blush pink is my favourite. This length of jacket is great for spring if you wear a lot of maxi skirts. The slogan “Be Kind” T shirt is a charity Tee with 50% of proceeds donated to The Diana Award.
13 April 2019
I’m never sure about striped cotton shirt dresses as they do remind me a little of summer school uniforms! But I like this red/white one with a bit of floral embroidery from Zara. I’ve paired it here with flat mules also from Zara, a wicker bag by Prada, Saint Laurent sunglasses and earrings by Simone Rocha.
10 April 2019
My latest favourite floral frock from Marks and Spencer. This is another one of their dresses that comes up large so I’d recommend sizing down. I’ve dressed it up here with a cream blazer from Mango and slingbacks from Anthropologie (the rest of the accessories are old) but I’m wearing it dressed down today with ankle boots and a tweed blazer from HM.
8 April 2019
A couple of followers are lucky enough to be attending a Royal garden party next month and this new Victoria Rose dress from Hobbs would be great for such an event. For events that are based outside in spring/summer I think a floral dress always looks pretty – you’ll fit right in with those perfectly planted royal flowerbeds at Buck Palace! The Victoria Rose is inspired by Queen Victoria’s love of nature and is part of the final Palace Collection at Hobbs – florals and royal Inspo – a perfect match for a royal garden party frock. I’ve matched the dress here with a headband from Mimoki, clutch and earrings by Accessorize and heels from Sargasso & Grey, who specialise in shoes for wider feet. Garden parties involve a lot of queuing at the palace gates and standing on grass so you’ll need comfortable shoes!
6 April 2019
I couldn’t leave Paris without a quick trip to Ladurée. Shock horror I’m actually wearing trousers today! Well “Miracle” leggings to be precise, from Winser London (gift). They’re really comfortable so great for travel. I passed a lady in the street wearing Chanel slingbacks and got serious contrast toe slingback envy! I’m happy with my Marks and Spencer dupes though – they’re probably comfier than Chanel anyway 🙂
5 April 2019
I’m in Paris today for work 🇫🇷 I managed to squeeze in an early morning coffee and croissant / model my M&S dress and Chanel-esque slingbacks 🙂 This knitted maxi dress with black/white pleated skirt from Marks & Spencer is really comfy and easy to wear. It’s a great “desk to dinner” number and easy to dress up with higher heels and a clutch. When I dress for work I like to try and look stylish but as I’m often on my feet a lot – unpacking suitcases, organising clothes etc, I need clothes that are comfortable to move in so I like jumper dresses and T-shirt dresses for that reason. The contrast toe slingbacks are still out of stock in most sizes (they do have them currently in a size 4 1/2 which might fit a 5 – I find I’m sometimes half a size smaller in M&S shoes). I’ve heard they’re re-stocking in May so I will keep my eyes peeled as I know some of you are still searching for them!
4 April 2019
My page is usually full of colour but monochrome is my comfort zone. This is a little capsule wardrobe for a work trip. I find it much easier to pack when the style is classic and the colours neutral. Some of the pieces in the photo are old so I’ve added links for some alternatives (the blouses, trench and scarf). Both contrast toe shoes are sold out but they do come in and out of stock so keep your eyes peeled if you are after them! The weather is awful today so I’m adding an additional outfit to the capsule that I haven’t pictured – a trench, a second dress and red loafers.
Dress: M&S – This is a really comfortable knitted dress, quite similar to the Givenchy one worn by the Duchess of Sussex last year.
Blazer: Mango – a great lightweight smart casual blazer for spring/summer.
Black “Miracle” leggings: Winser London. These were gifted to me from Winser London – and they’re a great addition to the capsule travelling wardrobe – comfortable, classic and flattering.
Trench coat: mine is old from Reiss but I like this one from their current range.
Contrast toe pumps: Marks & Spencer. These are so comfy – I always need a neutral flat for work and if you’re on your feet all day they have to be comfortable soft leather.
Le Pliage large Longchamp tote – always my go to travel and work bag.
My scarf in the photo is ancient from Zara – I love the combination of the tan paisley with the monochrome polka dot – it goes with every coat. I’ve pictured an alternative neutral patterned scarf from Gerard Darel.
Sunglasses: Mine are old Chloe (a hazard of frequenting airports with time to kill!).
3 April 2019
I think I’ve found my dress of dreams for 2019 – I love this new Rosemoor dress in blush pink silk from The Fold. Inspired by the English rose which features on the dress in a soft burgundy linear print. A beautiful dress if you’re looking for something special for spring /summer weddings and events. I’ve accessorized here with suede heels from Gianvito Rossi, clutch by Bottega Veneta, earrings from Pippa Small and hat by Philip Treacy.
2 April 2019
I thought this midi dress from & Other Stories was another polka dot frock but on closer inspection it’s actually covered in a coffee bean print which makes me like it even more. I can’t type a word without a sip of my morning coffee! I’ve matched it here with tan and tortoiseshell accessories including baby Audrey sunglasses from Celine, hoop earrings from Accessorize, bag from Mango and slider sandals from Dune.
31 March 2019
Jewel button cream jumper: J. Crew
Red espadrille wedges: Pied a Terre (not available anymore).
🐶 money can’t buy this bundle of cuteness! 🙂
30 March 2019
I love this dreamy floral maxi dress from Zimmerman – perfect for wafting around a garden party this summer. I remember featuring the higher necked version last year and this v-neck with buttons is just as nice. I think my H&M budget buy floral maxi skirt from the other day is as close to Zimmerman as I’m going to get at the moment! It has a similar soft romantic floral print which I love. I’ve accessorised here with bag and sandals from Zara, sunglasses by Chloe and earrings by Isabel Marant.
Thanks to MiaGiacca for gifting me this cute and classic pink tweed dress. Pictured here with a few of my favourite accessories.
27 March 2019
If you don’t like feminine flounce and florals look away now. I love this floral pink skirt from H&M – as pretty as an English country garden. I seem to have fast tracked straight to summer with the styling but you could wear this with a plain T shirt and blazer or denim jacket and boots now and then slip on the sandals when the sun starts to shine more reliably (I’ve forgotten if that actually happens in the UK – this is my first spring/summer here since 2014)! Broderie top: H&M; bag: Mango; sandals: Boden; sunglasses: Mango; earrings: Accessorize.
26 March 2019
Spring wedding outfit inspiration with this elegant embroidered blue dress from Hobbs. I’ve accessorised it here with a beautiful hat by Justine Bradley-Hill (available to hire from The Cotswold Hat Club), neutral suede clutch and heels and crystal drop earrings.
